Formed in 2018, downcast carve out driven melodic bursts of infectious emo/pop-punk laced with truly heart-wrenching lyrics with a poignant delivery. By the end of 2018, downcast were armed with their engrossing self-titled EP. The record picked up warm praise from Kerrang! Magazine, Moshville, Maximum Volume Music and Punktastic. It received airtime on Kerrang! Radio’s Fresh Blood show, courtesy of Alex Baker, as well as BBC Radio, courtesy of Adam Walton.

The band's single ‘catharsis’ is available on all major platforms snow. “The song is about being in a relationship with a toxic person and not realising the severity of their abuse until you’ve left the situation. The line ‘I always wondered why the songs I love didn’t sound the same when I was with you’ refers to someone wearing you down to the point where you don’t even enjoy
the things that used to make you happy."
